Earlier this year, I made a small change to the line length setting in Simpletext.
Previously, this setting was a simple dropdown with three options: Narrow, Standard, and Wide. For a long time, those three choices were enough. But as Simpletext grew, the feedback I received made one thing clear.
Everyone has their own version of the perfect writing space.
Some prefer a windowed layout, while others go full screen. And depending on whether you’re on an iPad, a MacBook, or an iMac, the available screen size can vary quite a bit. What feels comfortable on one device can feel cramped or too stretched on another. Over time, it became clear that three fixed options were not enough.
So I made the line length setting a slider instead.
You can now adjust the line length to exactly where you want it — whether that’s a tight column for focused writing or a wider layout that makes better use of a large screen.
It’s a small change, but one that gives you greater flexibility in creating your perfect writing environment.
Happy writing!
